What Makes For Bright Children
November 19, 2002

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." –Anonymous

WHAT MAKES FOR BRIGHT CHILDREN

In the "The Joy of Eating" (Utne Reader, www.utne.com), Jay Walljasper makes this observation:

"There was once an extensive study of the National Merit Scholars to find the common denominator in these bright kids' upbringing. Turns out it wasn't household income, private schools, parent's educational levels, or wealthy neighborhoods. It was families who ate their meals together."
