Elsa Chahin is on a mission to ensure that the world’s most vulnerable children, those living in children’s homes, are treated with love and respect. An in-demand speaker, writer, teacher, and infant-toddler consultant for more than two decades, Chahin is also a devoted mother. Indeed, it was when she was pregnant with her son that she discovered the work of the late Dr. Emmi Pikler, whose revolutionary approach to infant and toddler care has impacted generations of children living in residential homes.
Embracing the pedagogy and immersing herself in all things Pikler®, Chahin became one of only two certified and accredited Pikler® trainers in North America, and she is currently president of the internationally renowned nonprofit, Pikler/Lóczy USA. As a staunch advocate of early childhood education and development, Chahin is also a working group leader for the World Forum Foundation. It is through this group that Chahin and Pikler’s daughter, 86-year old Anna Tardos, came to write their book, In Loving Hands: How the Rights for Young Children Living in Children’s Homes Offer Hope and Happiness in Today’s World.
