Challenging Behaviors as Opportunities for Building Relationships:
Being on the Same Team with Children and Families

When: Tuesday, May 3rd at 7:00-8:30 pm Eastern

Includes:Two Exchange magazine articles (PDF)

  • "Quit Tattling on Kids" by Heather Bernt-Santy
  • "Being on the Same Team as the Child: Co-Regulation in the Classroom" by Mike Huber

In this live conversation, we will explore those times when children’s behaviors truly challenge us. We’ll make a shift from compliance and defiance to understanding these challenges as an indication a child is currently lacking skills. We’ll uncover the possibilities that arise when we make this shift. We’ll explore through real-life stories, how focusing on co-regulation and relationships helps us team up with each child with a shared goal of developing new skills. And we’ll step through the nuances of sharing these emerging skills with families in ways that welcome them onto the team. You’ll leave this lively conversation with enhanced compassion and approaches for teaming up with the children whose behaviors challenge you most.
