Who's the Target Audience?
The target audience for this kit is beginning, intermediate, and advanced teachers of toddlers, preschoolers, and school-agers. This kit will introduce teachers to ways to respect children’s fears and explore ways to help children manage them.

Kit Timeline:
Preparation time for this kit is 1.0 hour. Implementation time is estimated at 1.5 hours.
Training Outcomes:
- Teachers will identify children’s fears and ways to respect them.
- Teachers will describe ways to respond to children’s fears with curiosity.
- Teachers will identify ways to investigate children’s fears through curriculum activities.
- Teachers will examine their own fears and how those fears might affect the children with whom they work.
These training outcomes address the following:
- A-2, A-5, B-7a, B-7c, and C-1a of the Accreditation Criteria and Procedures of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC, 1998).
- 1, 2, 3, 4a, 4b, and 4d of NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation, Initial Licensure Level (NAEYC, 2003).
- 1304.21(1)(3)(i)(1-B), 1304.21(a)(4)(i), 1304.40(e)(2), and 1304.40(e)(3) of Head Start Performance Standards (Federal Register, Nov. 5, 1996, Volume 61, Number 215).
