Who's the Target Audience?
The target audience for this kit is beginning and intermediate teachers working with children from age 3 to 8. Teachers will explore specific strategies for welcoming families to their classrooms.

Kit Timeline:
Preparation time for this kit is estimated at 45 minutes to 1.0 hour. Implementation time is
1.5 hours.
Training Outcomes:
- Teachers will identify the important role parents and/or family members play in their child’s education.
- Teachers will identify ways to find out what families want for their children from the program.
- Teachers will compare and contrast different families’ expectations.
- Teachers will identify comfortable ways to include families in their classrooms.
- Teachers will select a variety of ways for families to be represented in their classrooms when they are not physically present.
These training outcomes address the following:
- C1-C9 of the Accreditation Criteria and Procedures of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC, 1998).
- 1, 2, and 4a of NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation, Initial Licensure Level (NAEYC, 2003).
- 1304.40(d)(1), 1304.40(e)(2), and 1304.40(e)(3) of Head Start Performance Standards (Federal Register, Nov. 5, 1996, Volume 61, Number 215).
