Who's the Target Audience?
The target audience for this kit is intermediate and advanced teachers working
with children from age 3 to 8.

Kit Timeline:
This training kit is implemented in three 1.5-hour sessions with each session building on the
previous one. Preparation time for this kit is 2.0 hours initially and an additional .5 hours for
each subsequent session.
Training Outcomes:
- Teachers will identify the three phases of a project.
- Teachers will analyze a curriculum project.
- Teachers will use observation to identify potential topics of interest to children.
- Teachers will identify possible project ideas to explore with children in their classrooms.
- Teachers will implement one project to explore the project approach to curriculum
further.
These training outcomes address the following:
- A-10, B5, B7 of the Accreditation Criteria and Procedures of the National Association for the Education
of Young Children (NAEYC, 1998).
- 4a, b, c, and d of NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation, Initial Licensure Level
(NAEYC, 2003).
- Standards 1304.21(a)(1)(iv) and 1304.21(c)(2) of Head Start Performance Standards (Federal Register:
Nov. 5, 1996, Volume 61, Number 215).
