It's easy to come up with new ideas; the hard part is letting go of what worked for you two years ago, but will soon be out of date.

The Exchange Press resource, Engaging Adult Learners, details how to match one's training to the different learning preferences of the audience. The range of training approaches to consider is no more evident than when comparing David Elkind's guidebook Parenting on the Go, introduced in Monday's ExchangeEveryDay, to a tongue-in-cheek guide Handle with Care. This video combines factual information with the imagination and personal experiences of director and first-time father, Jun Iwakawa.
When you watch this video you will either be delighted or appalled. In any case, this video should provide a stimulating source of dialogue in a staff training session or a parent meeting.
These down-to-earth practical strategies will help you address the learning principle that an audience's interaction with content is actually more important than the presentation of the content.
This dynamic resource will transform your presentations, creating lasting change through authentic engagement, empowered learning, and intentional practice.

David Elkind stays in my top 10 experts. My adult sons will appreciate Iwakawa's humorous take on caring for newborns. And they'll still read the Elkind books and articles I sent them.
