Maher, a nine-year-old Syrian boy with dreams of becoming a doctor, has been living in a makeshift refugee camp in Lebanon with his family for three years after fleeing their home in Raqqa. The International Rescue Committee gave Maher a camera to photograph his friends. Check out the video showing Maher discovering a love of photography:

The Working Group on Children's Rights of the World Forum Foundation is also giving cameras (still and video) to kids around the world and engaging them in thoughtful dialog about how they experience their rights to provision, Highlights from the documentary they are creating will be shared at the 2017 World Forum in New Zealand |

The cameras are a great idea! I am starting a picture pal program in September. I have my students draw pictures with a brief explanation and then we trade with other students from around the world.
I did this with my preschoolers when I owned and taught at my private preschool in the states before moving to the VI.
I presented this idea to the University of Illinois/Child Care Resources and they are featuring an article about it in their September newsletter.
Would these children be interested in doing this?
