Ellenor Hodson is a strong and eloquent advocate for children and families, hard at work as a coordinator of child development programs in the city of Pomona and the neighboring community of North Diamond Bar, an area of diverse incomes and ethnic backgrounds on the outskirts of Los Angeles.Supervising the care of children in 16 sites located on or adjacent to public school campuses throughout the district requires enthusiasm and creativity in the face of ever-growing, ever-changing needs and unpredictable funding. But Ellenor, who is also current president of the California Child Development Administrators Association, rises eagerly to the challenge.
Ellenor was busy volunteering in schools and mothering when an outspoken student challenged, "Why aren't you in a classroom teaching kids?" His question sent her back to school - and she began her work on behalf of programs for young children.
Before coming to Pomona, she worked with the Covina-Valley Unified School District and Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. "I saw that early intervention works.
